The game plays very similarly to Santorini (2017) and other grid blocking style games, but lacks the complexity necessary to be truly engaging.
All players are shouting and making trades as fast as they can, which gives the game the feel of urgency that comes from being on the floor of the stock market.

Once the first couple of turns were completed, everything ran very well, and the final scores were closer than I had anticipated.
Guillotine mitigates its morbid themes though humour. Illustrations are very approachable and funny and the actions cards tell a story of the ill-fated proletarians trying desperately to delay or avoid their fate.
