Was ‘BattleBlock Theatre’ worth the wait?

For the past four years, developing company The Behemoth has continuously promised that, at some point, BattleBlock Theatre would come out. The team previously known for Castle Crashers (2008) and Alien Hominid (2004) finally got this baby out last Wednesday, April 3.

Following the flash-animated style of their previous games, Behemoth’s BattleBlock Theatre stars a cast of shape-specific headed folks who are cast away onto a prison island run by adorable cats in officer uniforms. From there, these little people are forced to perform for an audience by collecting gems (the whole game is silly), all while trying to solve the mystery of what happened to our friendly leader Hatty Hattington.

Adorable, hilarious, addicting—each of these words applies to this very awesome wait of a game. BattleBlock is very different from games out there in terms of story and platforming, and, well, it’s just all around good fun!

BattleBlock Theatre is available on the Xbox Live Arcade for $15, and is set to be released on other platforms in the near future.
