There arenât enough hours in a day!

With the end of the semester fast approaching, many students have started to panic about how to get the most out of their short vacation time.
âSummer goes by fast, and before you know it, fall semester starts right back up again,â third-year student Molly Thannis told Other Press reporters. âThis summer is going to be especially tight because of all the great shows that are being released. I just donât know if Iâm going to be able to squeeze in all my binging in time.â
Thannis isnât the only student feeling the pressure about fitting the most into their schedules. Political science major Reese Seymour was already thinking far ahead into the coming months.
âWe really have to lay it all out there. Thereâs only 18 weekends from May to August, and obviously we wonât have every single weekend off. Factor in familial and social obligations, holidays, other extenuating circumstancesâweâre really going to have to work hard to relax.â
Students report that certain shows carry more emotional weight, meaning a recovery and processing time may be needed to âbounce backâ from some heavy feelings.
âThis summer gives us the final season of Orange is the New Black,â longtime viewer Bridget MacDonald told reporters. âI canât even predict how long itâs going to take me after finishing it to leave the rumpled nest of tissues and blankets in my room. Iâm going to have to take an entire week off of work just to sift through thinkpieces and various blog posts. Theyâre also releasing Neon Genesis Evangelion, so thatâs going to black out almost all of August. Hereâs hoping I can drag my tear-stained carcass out of this summer and back to class in September!â
Students also shared some of their tips for dealing with the immense struggles of binge-watching. Thannis recommended buying a large calendar and mapping out new releases.
âHereâs when Terrace House Tokyo gets released,â she said, pointing to May. âSo as you can see, I wonât be able to make it to my sisterâs wedding, which really sucks because I was supposed to be a bridesmaid. Anyway, also in May we have the second season of Sheâs Gotta Have It, so itâs going to be a really exciting month for me.â
Parents, as usual, seemed confused about their childrenâs actions.
âI canât figure out why Molly would rather hole herself up in her bedroomâwhich gets absolutely no natural light whatsoeverâthan go outside in the sun and spend time with her friends,â said Mollyâs father Bert Thannis. âWhen I was her age I had a job scooping ice cream, another one mowing lawns, and would spend the night with my friends down at the beach around a campfire. Kids these days are soâwait, are they releasing another season of Easy? The final season?â
As Other Press reporters left Thannis, he was apologetically calling his eldest daughter to explain that he couldnât attend her wedding.
