It has not been a good start for the men’s basketball. It isn’t easy for any team to come back from 0-5 to start a season.
The Player of the Month for the November is Matt Santema! In the first half of the volleyball season Matt has been essential to his team’s success.
It has been an eventful year for Chris Laxton and his team. Their successes this year included holding the best regular season record in their conference, having one of their players take home the conference MVP award, winning the provincial playoffs, and attending the national tournament and claiming fourth.
For any team, the hardest weeks are usually the ones after a break. For the men, this statement stuck true, as they played the VIU Mariners over the weekend.
For some teams, breaks provide the overworked athletes with time off to rest up, but byes can also ruin rhythm and pace. Unfortunately for the Royals, this was of the latter case.

Unfortunately, it seems to be a similar story each week early in the season for the men’s basketball team. They go into the third quarter tied or with the lead, and then they lose.
While it was a bad week for one team, it certainly was a good week for this one.
Being down 0-3 is not what any team wants. Unfortunately, after a rough week two at home, that is where the men’s basketball team finds itself.
