Shelf Indulgence: One hotel, slightly haunted

Kate Racculia’s Bellweather Rhapsody is a hotel story that mirrors other hotel stories. Imagine, if you will, that Wes Anderson had written and directed The Shining. Four characters? Not enough quirk. Better: an entire orchestra of precocious high-school musicians (and their chaperones). How precocious? Very precocious.

Comic Corner: One too many reboots

Star Wars is at it again, creating yet another reboot of the franchise, this time in a comic series set around the time of the original Star Wars trilogy. A regular edition has been put out by Marvel, with a variant cover edition exclusive to Loot Crate, but I’m not totally convinced it’s worth picking up.

Working for the weekend

I’ve always had a fondness for the energy and enthusiasm found in live theatre. Watching actors maintain an imaginary world without the advantage of editing or CGI can be truly inspiring to behold—especially when the world of the play in question is as full of lively lunacy and bizarre comedic digressions as Arts Club’s latest effort, One Man, Two Guvnors.
