Friendly fire

While some dub it as a masculine trait, others label it as immaturity. I’m speaking of the act of friendly insults: when we call our friends ā€œlosers,ā€ ā€œbitches,ā€ or ā€œidiotsā€ for fun. Even though this type of interaction varies from friend circle to friend circle, and each cultural group reacts differently to name-callings and put-downs, we all have experienced friendly fire at one point or another.

Let taxes equal charities

It’s hard to get excited about taxes. Like having someone reach into your pocket and take whatever they want, tax season often leaves us all feeling a little violated. But for as long as civilized living has existed, taxes have been constant and increasing. It’s clear today that if we want to continue living the Canadian life, we’ll need to pay taxes, and a lot of them.

OPINIONS

Say yes to the transit

A TransLink referendum across Greater Vancouver is in the works. The voting will commence on March 16 through a mail-in ballot available until May 29. The vote itself is on whether we should implement a 0.5 per cent increase to the PST in order to fund an $8-billion, 10-year transit plan.

HUMOUR

College Confessional…

Going to the liquor store around one’s birthday says that you are doing something fun for your birthday—drinks with friends, a party, something other than eating ice cream on your bedroom floor alone.
