The game plays very similarly to Santorini (2017) and other grid blocking style games, but lacks the complexity necessary to be truly engaging.
If you’re looking for a casual time waster like some form of advanced solitaire, this is not that game.
It all happened so fast. One second you were enjoying a nice pint of mead with some friends, and the next you were being arrested for kidnapping the princess.
Once the first couple of turns were completed, everything ran very well, and the final scores were closer than I had anticipated.

Guillotine mitigates its morbid themes though humour. Illustrations are very approachable and funny and the actions cards tell a story of the ill-fated proletarians trying desperately to delay or avoid their fate.
