The menâs volleyball team had a successful season-opening weekend taking out the Capilano Blues in back-to-back games on Friday and Saturday, resulting in 3â1 wins both times. With the two wins, the Royals move up to first place to tie with the Columbia Bible College Bearcats for four points in the PACWEST standings. This week the Royals host back-to-back games at the New Westminster campus against the College of the Rockies Avalanche on Thursday and Friday at 8 p.m.
The womenâs volleyball team split their games against the Blues with a 3â2 win on Friday night and a 2â3 loss on Saturday. They sit amongst the middle of the pack in the standings with two points. The Royals host the womenâs Avalanche team on Friday and Saturday, with both games starting at 6 p.m.
The Royalâs menâs soccer team beat the Blues this past Saturday with a devastating 7â0 blowout. They then went on to defeat their biggest rivals in the standingsâthe Vancouver Island University Marinersâby a score of 3â2 on Sunday. With two big wins, the Royals advance to first place in the standings with 30 pointsâthree points ahead of the second place Mariners. The Royals have a busy schedule coming up with away games this weekend against the Quest Kermodes on Saturday at 2 p.m. and the Langara Falcons on Sunday at 3:30 p.m. In two weeks the Royals will partake in the PACWEST Provincials at Quest University, and in three weeks Douglas College will be hosting the CCAA Menâs Soccer National Championships.
The womenâs soccer team had a successful weekend as well, defeating the Capilano Blues on Saturday by a score of 4â3 and edging out the VIU Mariners 1â0 on Sunday. They sit in sixth place in the standings with 14 points. This weekend, the Royals face the Quest Kermodes on Saturday at noon and the Langara Falcons at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday.
